He's home at random times, every couple days and then normally only for a few hours. When he needs to sleep. And there's the whole everyone wants to see daddy thing but somehow everyone needs to be quiet because operating a train on no sleep isn't all that wise thing. But it, too, is why I love homeschooling. When he's around and awake, we can go light on school. :)Danahttp://roscommonacres.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4480010063434195775.post-20215353152527080452011-08-25T09:01:15.429-07:002011-08-25T09:01:15.429-07:00It's a balancing act; isn't it? Sometimes it's a mental thing, other times it's a physical development. I've even found that emotional maturity plays a role. It makes me sad when moms PUSH for too much. There's no need. It will happen in its time. And feeling embarrassed? Nah, each child is unique. Each child will develop at her own rate. It's OK.Jimmiehttp://jimmiescollage.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4480010063434195775.post-44896187670028852502011-08-21T14:27:36.614-07:002011-08-21T14:27:36.614-07:00Yes! I'll have to remember that when we study Astronomy in a couple of years!

As for grammar, I don't know how old your dd is, but could MadLibs be a possibility? I remember LOVING those when I was young!! I know it helped me learn my parts of speech, but I didn't even realize I was learning at the time!

Also, I had who college professors who did pretty cool grammar assignments. One had us read through magazines to find an example of whatever type of sentence we were studying at the time (e.g., simple, compound, compound-complex), and the other had us (1) come up with a new word for each part of speech (for example, I think the pronoun I created was a word to use when you don't know the gender, like for an unborn baby) and (2) do "Grammar Notes" where we had to document 10 occurrences of people misusing the English language, analyze what was wrong with their words, and speculate as to why they made the mistake they made. I'm not sure if those ideas help you or not, but I hope there's something in there you can use or at least tweak a little! :)
Blessings,
Jennifer at trainingthemup.blogspot.comBeaglemammanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4480010063434195775.post-91339342391032612742010-11-16T08:38:58.107-08:002010-11-16T08:38:58.107-08:00Every time we get back from visiting my folks we h...Every time we get back from visiting my folks we have to wean our kids off tv again.
