This Semester's Curriculum:

Since this is our first year homeschooling all of the choices are a little overwhelming to me.  This is what we came up with (and seem to be enjoying) so far!

• Math:
• Singapore Primary Mathmatics (2A & 2B)
• A ton of manipulatives (tanagrams, dominos, paper clips, etc.)
• Grammar:
• First Language Lessons (Lessons 100 - 200)
• Writing:
• Writing With Ease (Level 2)
• Step Up to Writing
• Handwriting Without Tears - Cursive Handwriting (ever so slowly on this one)
• Spelling/Vocabulary:
• Spelling Workout (Level B)
• Dr. Fry's 1000 Instant Words
• Evan-Moor A Word a Day (Grades 1 -3) - we're just kind of going over these; nothing formal
• Greek and Latin Roots
• History (by far, her favorite!):
• Story of the World (vol. 1)
• Story of the World Activity Pages (vol. 1) - wonderful for me not being very creative!
• Science:
• Houghton Mifflin - California Science 2 (not loving this and may change to Mr. Q's)
• Art & Music:
• I'm a total slacker on music...she wants to start piano again, but I'm kind of waiting for our budget to open up for a new monthly expense.
• Art...we just try to incorporate it into everything we do, not very formal yet.

We are having loads of fun and manage to get most of this done in 4 (or so) hours 4 days a week.  We have been making special efforts to get out and about at least a couple of days a week.  There has not been a lack of opportunities for fun around here this year!  We have done park days, picked our pumpkin at a farm, gone to an aquarium, taken a couple of classes at the Discovery Science Center, played at our local Recess on the Ranch, and lots of days playing with friends.  It's all good.
